Why Crystals?
Crystals not only look beautiful, they are wonderful aids for healing, energy clearing, meditation and psychic protection.
Crystals are formed from the Earth itself and and each crystal type is completely unique in the quality of energy it emits.
How are crystals made?
Most crystals are formed through the natural evolutionary process of the planet we live on (with a few exceptions). Magma originating deep under the Earth surface is responsible for forming the majority of crystals, however each crystal has developed uniquely depending on the journey of that magma as it has dispersed.
The environmental forces the magma is exposed to as it cools will determine the type of crystal that is produced. Influences such as temperature, pressure (depth underground), exposure to the elements such as sunlight & erosion, & the way in which the magma was dispersed (layers, dripping, gas bubbles etc) will all contribute to the end crystal product.
Some examples of this variety are
Amethyst - Formed in round geodes which were originally magma gas bubbles.
Quartz - Formed from intensely hot magma rising up from deep within the Earth and moving toward the Earth surface through movements in the tektonic plates.
Crystal Forms
Natural Form
Crystals with minimal work done with them - appearing roughly as the would have in their natural state.
Clusters
A number of smaller points joined together by a solid base. These crystals usually come from a round-crystal geode, which can be broken open to reveal the crystal points on the inside.
Points
A crystal which has been cut into a tower-like shape. Usually polished to a shiny finish. Great for Meditation and focus.
Tumbled Stones
Roughly rounded crystals which have been through a “tumbling” process which creates the smooth rounded shape and polished finish. Usually around 2-4 cm in width / length. Tumbled stones are usually quite cheap relative to other forms of crystals and so allow you to obtain a large number of crystals on a limited budget.
Pricing of Crystals
The relative prices of crystals depend on a number of factors.
The type of crystal - The basic laws of supply and demand are at work here. More common the crystals being lower in price than rarer crystals for example.
The type of work done on the crystal:
The level of work physically done to bring the crystal into saleable condition also has a bearing on the crystal’s price. Some crystals require more labour and equipment to extract than others.
Has the stone been Cut? Polished? Did the stone require individual working, or was it one of a thousand crystals being tumbled at the same time?
