I can feel that you are a very good mother; very active in your son’s life and genuinely concerned for his well-being.
The other side wants you to know that you are a good mother and you are not doing anything wrong – it is not your fault.
They are saying “number one” and “no argument about that!”
The word “father” is coming in as important also.
I feel that you can help your son. You have teaching abilities yourself and can help to fill in the gaps from his schooling.
I don’t feel anything being “wrong” with your son – he actually has a lovely energy. It is more that he is just very young and feels that other things are more important than learning right now!
Numbers seems significant also – either he is very good at them or he finds them difficult. They do feel significant though.
The other side is telling me that you can turn this around. The connection with his father could be an emotional thing or something inherited in connection to your question about him.
He does need more focus but also needs to be allowed to just “be”.
You are thoughtful but worry too much.
Be careful of bullying at school as while he enjoys school in many ways, he is also sensitive and this would affect his learning greatly. He loves to be active and has a lot of energy to burn. He enjoys physical activity.
I also wonder if his teacher is right for him. I feel he does need extra care in a gentle way and that for some reason, the school has not been able to give this to him so far.
There could be a change of school coming next year and I feel if it does happen that it will be a better one.
